Sisters of the Snake PDF by Sasha Nanua Summary

A lost princess. A dark puppet master. And a race against time—before all is lost. Princess Rani longs for a chance to escape her gilded cage and prove herself. Ria is a street urchin, stealing just to keep herself alive. When these two lives collide, everything turns on its head: because Ria and Rani, orphan and royal, are unmistakably identical. A deal is struck to switch places—but danger lurks in both worlds, and to save their home, thief and princess must work together. Or watch it all fall into ruin.

Sisters of the Snake surprised me in some ways I hadn’t expected it to - the strength of this first book in a new series, is its eclectic collection of characters.

Rani is the sheltered princess while Ria is the scrappy thief who has learnt survival on the streets. Opposites on the extreme ends of spectrum, when they exchange places for their own personal reasons, it doesn’t take a long time for either of them to realise that their motivations aren’t quite different as they might have believed.

The secondary characters too play a far more important roles - the aspect of found family trope was such a pleasant surprise that had me far more invested than I would have expected.

It took a while for Sisters of The Snake to get their hooks in me, the writing isn’t complicated and neither is the world building - honestly I did find the world created by the authors to be less complicated than a rich desi fantasy should actually be.
